FURTHER INFORMATION REGARDING FDA RECALL OF ALMOND COOKIES MADE BY CHARLESTON COOKIE FOR DEAN & DELUCA
Charleston, SC, November 5, 2009
Charleston Cookie Company's Almond Cookies sold to Dean & Deluca for distribution through their website and catalog were recalled because butter (milk) was omitted from the label on the package.
The issue resulted from a labeling problem. The quality of the cookies made by Charleston Cookie Company have not been affected. The company's production standards continue to meet or exceed the FDA's standards of quality control.
Dean & Deluca expects to resume sales of the Americana Cookie collection once the correct labels are approved by the FDA.
No illnesses have been reported due to the omission.
The company’s products continue to be purchased online at www.charlestoncookie.com.
